On October 12-13, the Open Baltic Kung Fu Championship 2024 will take place in Vilnius

On October 12-13, in Vilnius at the Vilnius Gediminas Technical University sports hall, the Open Baltic Wushu (Kung Fu) Championship will be held for the second time in Lithuania. The competition is expected to attract a record number of participants.

Athletes will compete in all categories of the Wushu sports branch: in demonstrative martial arts routines (taolu), light and full contact (sanda) fights, Yong Chun (Wing Chun) style kongsao fights, Chinese wrestling (shuaijiao) and pushing hands (tuishou) matches, as well as fencing (bingdao) competitions.

According to Tomas Lapinskas, president of the Lithuanian Wushu Federation, it took more than seven years to secure the right to host such a high-level competition in our country.

“We hope that this level of competition will once again draw the attention of Lithuanians to this sport and martial art, which is, in one way or another, at the roots of all Eastern countries’ martial and traditional disciplines. It will allow us to gain more experience and demonstrate that Wushu in our country holds as honorable a place as any other sport. Especially since today we have not only European but also world Wushu champions defending the country’s honor in competitions abroad and the largest Wushu team in the Baltic states,” states T. Lapinskas.
